Since 1997, over 30,000 women around the world have attended Stay Away, created by the IKMF. The Women's Stay Away program teaches women how to defend themselves against the most common attacks they might face - whether that be on their feet or on the ground. These techniques are easy to learn in a relatively short period of time so that if we only see you once, we know you have the tools to defend yourself.
Since its inception, the women's krav maga program has evolved, but the core has remained constant. This program tackles the issues of differences between the attacker and the woman; it focuses on women’s size, strength, and mental condition while under attack.
At Valley Self-Defense, we have two ways for women to empower themselves in female-specific classes: weekly classes or our Stay Away: Intro to Women's Self-Defense.
Our weekly class focuses on fitness, boundary setting, and self-defense specific to women. Because of the weekly format, we are able to touch on different and more specialized areas such as anti-kidnapping, anti-carjacking, and more.
Our 2 hour Stay Away: Intro to Women's Self-Defense focuses on boundary setting and self-defense in a much shortened period of time. It ends with an obstacle course staffed with male attackers to show you how effective these tools can be. At the same time, we do not require anyone to work with a male attacker or to take part in the obstacle course if they are uncomfortable.
For all of our classes, this is your time and our goal is for you to leave feeling confident and not re-traumatized.
